USATF 1-Mile Road Racing Championship
Runablaze runner Marie Schofer ran the USATF 1-Mile Road Racing Championship (Minneapolis, May 13). Marie explains the race: “It was really fun and exciting to be a part of such a competitive field of women. I had a starting position right next to Christin Wurth-Thomas! In this race, I opted to run my own race instead of being pulled out too fast by the leaders.” Marie finished in 12th with a 4:53 improving on her Grand Blue Mile of 4:57 a month earlier.

ARTCRANK opening night a success
More than 800 cycling enthusiasts attended the opening night of the ARTCRANK Poster Show For Bike People at Instinct Gallery in Des Moines on May 8. Of the 29 posters available, six were sold out by evening’s end.
Charles Youel, founder and Curator of the show, was pleased with the turnout. “The Des Moines gallery opening was bigger than the ARTCRANK openings in St. Louis, San Francisco, Portland and Denver,” said Youel in a statement to Des Moines Bicycle Collective President, Carl Voss.
The Bicycle Collective, which organized the event to promote cycling and raise money for the Collective’s programs, hopes to see the success of the inaugural show carry momentum to next year’s show.
