Snake Alley Criterium
Saturday, May 29
Burlington

Even having ridden in the tours of both France and Spain, and all across the USA, Team Radioshack professional cyclist and Olympian Jason McCartney of Coralville lists the Snake Alley Criterium as one of his all time favorite races. Known as the ‘Crookedest Street In The World”, Snake Alley rises more than 125 feet in one short block. Category racers all sprint to the front on the first lap as the steep cobblestone climb, with 5 sharp hairpin turns and a 12.5% grade, causes riders in the pack to slip and fall. Finishing well at Snake Alley is a real feather in any cyclists cap.

5k and 10k Run
Saturday, May 15
www.fitnesssports.com
WHAMM is one of the older races in Central Iowa. It’s hilly 5k loop through the quaint neighborhoods of Windsor Heights starts and finishes at the Town Center at 66th and University. The 10k runners complete the loop twice, making it a challenging run with the hills. While WHAMM took a short hiatus a few years back, it’s been resurrected by the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central Iowa. Proceeds benefit the programs of the MDA.
